July Recap

I wasn't able to get all the 4th of July party pictures on here, but that's okay, I'm only missing a couple with the kids playing at the party. There was tons of holiday toys, games, crafts, and activities. They all had such a blast. We stayed at Grandma D's house and she always has some animal project underway.
The picture above is one of my moms growing chicks. Below is a picture of Lauren and Madelyn in the chicken coop. All was well and good until they started pecking at toes. We made them stay long enough for the picture, as you can see Lauren wasn't thrilled and Madelyn wasn't sure about it all.
This is a "before" and "after" photo of the 4th of July party with my siblings, one from the morning, the other at the end of the night.
Three of the quadruplet cousins eating with Madelyn at the tot table.
Darrick trying to toughen up the "Mad Dog"
Grandpa treated us to In & Out, a luxury of living here on the West. I think Las Vegas must have more In & Outs than any other city.
We went on a "strenuous" hike for a few hours at Mt. Charleston. The temperature difference was actually so extreme we were all FREEZING. Hard to believe since it's only an hour away. It is actually very green and beautiful, and this picture is just under a waterfall- I guess we forgot to capture the beauty part, sorry.
Family reunion at the Whiting Homestead in Northeast AZ. This is my moms kids and grandkids with her parents that are now 80! I'm glad we all made it up there... except my sister Shannon (her daughter still came).
Madelyn has grown attached to Uncle Wayne since they have stayed with us over the last couple months. He easily takes the place of Daddy when need be. And if she gets in trouble by Uncle Wayne, oh my, she is completely crushed. Sorry I didn't rotate the picture in time.
All the kids loaded up to go see the old sawmill. If you look close there are a few horny toads around the kids.

We are now into the middle of August, our BIRTHDAY month. I already had mine, Darrick's is actually today, and Katlyn's will be this weekend. Then we gear up to start the new school year. Yikes. Crystal and Wayne moved into their house a few days ago so they are super excited, and busy. We do still have Eliana, she is now 5 months old. Amazing we've had her that long.

Hi Krista - you don't know me, but we must cousins. My friend, Kara Mathews, is in your ward and mentioned she saw something about the Whitings in Arizona. I checked out your blog and sure enough, there's the Homestead! My great-grandfather was Ralph Whiting, a son of Edwin Marion. We were actually at the Homestead for a reunion at the end of July. Small world! -Jackie Fuller Andrus
