Is this poisonous?

I found this THING scaling around my house and backyard at alarming speed. It has 10 "legs" although the front 2 are used as arms almost to attack incoming threats, really, reminds me of a cat hissing... what spider does that?? I got this picture after spraying almost the entire contents of a Raid can on it, which still didn't keep it from twitching for more than 9 more hours!! So in this picture the legs are a little more twisted and cripple than when it is in full stealth mode, but this spider is really big, I thought it was a scorpion at first. There was certainly no web around, so is this not a spider?? Any thoughts or experts on the matter let me know!

I wanted to put this picture at the end, but apparently I am not capable of moving it. I love sleeping babies...

I LOVE dressing kids up in Halloween outfits even though it is for such a short while, if we are lucky they can wear their Halloween shirts 4X in a year :)
Matt and Jenny came all the way out from Ohio to visit with us for almost a week. Neither of them had ever been to Vegas before, so hopefully they got in some of the sights and had a good time. Least spectacular (in my opinion)- but the only one I had my camera with me- was the Hoover Dam which is currently under lots of construction to build this massive bridge you can see in the background for cars to travel over instead of the dam itself.

It was so fun to see them again and have them visit us. My girls all ate up the time they could be with them.

Next time they've promised to bring their little Wyatt who we can't wait to meet. This is our picnic gone bad... we didn't find an appropriate place to turn off before it was too late and we had to do it in a parking lot :(

We're off to CA tomorrow to help spend some of the track break time that my girls have off. I should have more pictures and updates after that!

Did my own research and found this is not a true spider, it is in the same classification as scorpions, although bites can lead to infection they are not poisenous. They do NOT live around or in webs, and can in fact move incredibly fast. Sometimes referred to as sun or wind scorpions.

I've killed a few of those spiders also and it freaked me out at first because they are nasty looking, but after looking it up and found out that they are pretty harmless I relaxed!

I would have freaked out. I hate bugs, especially big ones that look like they could kill a child. Glad you caught it before it could do any damage. Have fun in cali.
